The Barstow-Daggett Airport is a public use facility operated by San Bernardino County in the Mojave Desert of Southern California. The United States Army has a modern helicopter base here to support training on nearby Fort Irwin. The airfield is an historic remnant of the World War Two training in the Southwest. Only one of the large nose doc hangers constructed of redwood remain today. The Fixed Base Operator (FBO) has fuel and snacks for transit air travelers. It is basic and rustic as you might expect in the middle of the desert. Interesting airfield to visit if you do a little research on it history and past glories.

Cool spot. Old wood hangers and old buildings.

Great place to practice your non -towered airport stuff, rarely any traffic in the pattern. FBO guys are helpful and friendly. Perfect for your midway stop on your x-country solo leg back from Jean. Big fat runways too, and a 45 degree crosswind runway. 4 stars because it is pretty limited on services.
