My most recent experience with Alamo was quite inferior to my usual experience. A last minute trip for a funeral sent us to Dallas. I spent the extra 4,000 points to specifically rent a certain vehicle for our trip. Upon arrival to Alamo, the check-in person was very professional... borderline pushy making sure people complied with all rules. Check-in was expedited and she had us on our way in less than three minute. When going to pickup the truck we rented, we were greeted by a kind employee who took us to the full size truck we had rented which was marked eserved\. The unfortunate part was we could smell the truck before we got to it. Opening the door, the smell of cigarette smoke was extremely overwhelming. I immediately commented to the Alamo representative who apologized but offered no resolution. I asked if there was a different option which he said there was not. By the time we drove to the exit of Alamo, it was nauseating. As we checked-out of the parking garage, we complained again of the overwhelming stink of the truck and the newly found filth (dirty carpet, dirty seats, just generally dirty allover). He apologized but offered no resolution. I did ask him to make notes on the account that we are non-smokers and did not want to be charged for a filthy smoke-smelling vehicle. He complied. We suffered the trip with the dirtiest and stinkiest rental vehicle I've ever had to suffer. It was unfortunate. We had such a positive Alamo experience a year ago.... this time was gravely disappointing.

I paid for a compact, a Nissan Versa. They gave me a Chrysler 300 S, black on black, with 20 inch rims. 5 stars all the way. They let you pick your car from a bunch of awesome, powerful cars.
Alamo desk completely closed. National desk covering 3 companies with one desk clerk more than 30 people in front of me. At least 3 persons left this line and went to Avis desk were serviced and left while we waited because our reservation was here. When I got to counter the clerk was friendly and efficient. Returning in Houston customer service non existent 1 person in lot saying leave the keys no one indoors 30 mins for shuttle pickup. Still better than being stranded at the closed facility in Ontario California after multiple assurances that it would remain open
Picking up with online check in and skip the line was SO easy. You head straight through and show the agent your confirmation, then they show you to a line of your options and take your pick! Drop off was even easier (during operating hours). You pull up, get out and give the agent your keys, and walk away! Dropping off after hours looks easy since it says you can leave the keys in the car or drop it in the box in front of the door! Look up DFW car rental RETURNS not DFW car rental cause it’s on a different street to get up to the return level on the top of the garage. Super friendly workers, super smooth process!
I love my experiences with Alamo. It's easy and everyone is so friendly and helpful. I appreciate it all!
