I took my mother to Dr. Maioriello after an injury which fractured her vertebrae. The emergency room doctor had made the appointment for us, saying that Dr. Maioriello was the best spine specialist they had and that he would examine her in a week to make sure the spine was healing correctly. Unfortunately, this is not what happened. It was three weeks before we could get an appointment, and when she saw the doctor, he didn't even examine her. In extreme ongoing pain, she called back for another appointment the following week. This time he quickly and impatiently examined her and ordered a bone scan. When we went back for the results, we waited over a hour to see Dr. Maioriello. When he finally came in he blurted,\You don't need surgery.\ [We had never asked for surgery.] \You have arthritis. Go to your family doctor for arthritis relief.\ When my mother said she didn't understand and asked why her arthritis would suddenly start causing pain after her injury, Dr. Maioriello retorted, \What? Do you think I'm lying? I can't help you. Go to your family doctor!\ My mother felt crushed to get this kind of treatment when seeking help from Dr. Maioriello for her pain. We got a completely different diagnosis when we saw her internist. He examined her and explained that her spinal injury had bruised the spinal cord, and he is treating her for it. I don't know why Dr. Maioriello so rudely brushed my mother off and refused to help her, but his treatment of her showed a serious lack of compassion.

Only met him once. He was enthusiastic about his work and comfortable with his prognosis.
