Had a dinner meeting for six and very pleased. The lamb melted in my mouth, fantastic. The people who had venison thought is was wonderful. Service was excellent.

Abacus has long been one of the most respected and excellent restaurants in Dallas. I cannot remember a time in the past decade when it hasn’t surfaced as one of the top, nt it’s only improved with age as Chef Chris Patrick took over the Executive Chef duties and livened up the menu with some real creativity and diverse takes on game, fois gras and on some very cool Asian inspired sushi and bites. The bar at this restaurant is gracious and big with wonderful bartenders, and a crazy great selection of whiskeys and craft cocktails. Once you’re seated in the zen cool neutrals of the main dining room with ts view of the open kitchen at work, you can enjoy some of their famous standards like the “lobster shooters” that remain an Asian derived delight, and a good cross of perfectly prepped sushi and then dive into Chef’s always changing but wonderful house made sausages and Hudson Valley fois gras. Patrick’s cooking is only getting stronger each time I eat here.... his James Beard dinner last year in NYC apparently offering more confidence and he’s always working with game as he grew up hunting and has a real love for it. The servers here are also a reason to come and come back. They’re veterans and their polish and humor and attention to detail makes the whole evening a great experience. The wine list is superb.... many off the path Napa strong hidden gems, and the big names you’d expect for people who want their known go-to’s. Big bravo to Abacus. Great to know where I can count on the best for my friends and business meals when I come back to my home town!!!

This former location of Abacus is now Jaspers Uptown and if you are familiar with Jaspers in Legacy (which is now gone) you will find this to be a wonderful new location for an old favorite. The menu has changed slightly and all of us at dinner learned it was due to COVID-19. The restaurant was fully staffed and sadly we were the only diners from our 6 PM reservation until around 7 PM..

Great scene for tasty American food. I had a cousin come into town and asked me to take him back here. Similar to a place in Denver I liked.
