Prof Garos does a thorough job of going over basics. He is flexible and adaptable. He makes sure each student understands the content. He really takes time to involve each student and is well organized. I would recommend him to anyone.

LOVED LOVED LOVED this class! I took Jako's Dutch Intro class this fall via zoom. He really took the time to make sure everyone understood the material. I felt like the class was very well designed with the students in mind. Being able to learn remotely was such a blessing especially with everything going on this year. In just a short 6 weeks we learned a lot and were going over all of the basics and placing a special interest on pronunciation. He also would send us copies of our classes and extra material to practice throughout the week so that we could learn even more. I really enjoyed his teaching style combined with his personality, you can tell he is incredibly patient and kind. I would highly recommend taking one of his classes to pick up a new language or gain extra practice at all levels!!!
I took one of Jako’s introductory dutch classes via zoom. I can say so many great things about his teaching and structure of his classes. He is very knowledgeable in teaching the pronunciations and grammar of the language. He is a patient teacher and really invested in having an interactive class. I believe we all felt comfortable with him as a teacher. One of his best strengths is the ability to identify where we were having issues with either grammar or pronunciation. He would then break down the language even more in order to make sure we had an easier time retaining the sound or spelling. I am happy with the amount of introductory dutch that was taught. Thank you Jako for the time you invested in us as a class. I recommend Jako if you’re interested in learning one of the languages he teaches.
What a wonderful experience. Jako is very personable, encouraging and fun each and every time. He is also very patient which is extremely helpful while learning a new language. Well organized and easy to work with, Jako is the person you want to help you. I am currently learning Dutch with him and I would highly recommend him. I am so thankful that someone shared his contact info with me. What a true blessing!
Jako was a fabulous instructor! I took a 6 week virtual Dutch course for beginners. He focused on the foundation of the language: sounds, verb conjugation, pluralization, and how words behave in general. I've taken other language courses formally and informally (apps) and this is the first course that truly focused on building a solid grasp of the basics so that I was able to read and pronounce words correctly. Even words I have never seen before! Jako took great care to ensure we were speaking correctly and consistently, which took some practice as letters in Dutch don't always sound like the same letters in English. He was also good at breaking the ice or making us laugh when we were stuck or unsure. Overall he is a very encouraging and patient teacher. I will hopefully be joining in another class soon since I enjoyed this one so much! I even have gotten to practice reading and using a little Dutch on a work trip to Amsterdam :) Dank U Wel!
I can enthusiastically recommend Jako Garos as a teacher of Dutch. In January and February 2021 I was one of five students enrolled in his Basic Dutch class. We met via ZOOM, weekly for 6 weeks. I was quite happy with his teaching style and enjoyed interacting with the other students in the class.
Jako is an amazing teacher! Patient, explains so well and has an answer to every single of your questions! On top of it he is full of encouraging energy and just brightens your day with his positive attitude! I've been part of his group lessons for Dutch for beginners and got very much inspired! Now I am practicing every day and am keen on taking solo lessons in order to reach my goals in Dutch. I am a bilingual flight attendant with United (German, English) and want to add an asset to my portfolio, which is a third language (Durch us a Perfect combination of both of my languages). Jako offered lessons for Flight Attendants, so I am very motivated to moving forward and eventually pass the language test. Denk je wel, Jako! Je bent grandioos! Tot ziens! Judith
Jako provided a class to flight attendants and it exceeded my expectations. He's a great teacher! Jako had a lot of patience and understanding of my changing schedule and difficulty in mastering certain sounds (huis). Jako's encouragement and enthusiasm in teaching Dutch was inspiring. These lessons were the perfect foundation for learning Dutch. Dank u wel Jako!
