I love woodchucks so much! I have stayed at this hostel three years in a row for trail days. It's a quiet place to stay where you're guaranteed a quiet nights sleep. Chuck himself is a reasonable guy and goes out of his way for hikers. I will be back next year! Oh and Chuck is guaranteed to challenge someone to a game of Cornhole.

They have a new owner, but she is very, very nice and passionate about the Appalachian trail. Without a doubt you should stay here!

We run Sufi Lodge in Troutdale VA and recommend Woodchuck's Hostel to all our Southbound AT hiker guests. Hostels are generally people friendly places offering incredible values and a relaxed atmosphere, they are some of the last true Americana left in our out of control boring corporate chain world. People should never try to compare them to the Hilton, different animal entirely. We are thinking of setting up a driving tour of the famous AT hostels and Woodchuck's and Woods Hole North of us would certainly be in the running.

Chuck is not here anymore ... Redah owns this now since April and her pricing is inconsistent on Guthook and on her website ... Beware paying top dollar to sleep in a shed ... She is NOT hiker and go into townfriendly and is two faced ... Overcharged me and refuses to reimburse ... She is a two faced shapeshifter beware and go into town

Was originally going to Crazy Larry's but nobody was home so went here instead. Very happy I did. Really nice place.

Definitely the place to stay in Damascus- clean, friendly, and a great breakfast. Woodchuck goes out of his way to help hikers and make them feel welcome. Many thanks!

Woodchuck is the best! Such a nice, passionate hostel owner and former thru hiker. He goes out of his way to make sure the hikers staying with him are in a comfortable, relaxing environment! Would highly recommend!
