When I was a little girl in the 1950s my parent took me to dinner at DAC all the time. I remember the Christmas party when Santa called my name to come up and I got a doll. Fascinated by the angel hair on the giant Christmas tree. Fond memories.

We went there for Sunday dinner and was very surprised. Very "hyggelig" authentic Danish/Norwegian atmosfer, great service and the traditional food was amazing. We recommend it and will for sure be back again soon.
Because it was the Norwegian Independence Day Parade we went to DAC to see if we could have dinner and they very graciously accommodated us. It was a buffet style special dinner for the occasion with delicious pork, meat balls, vegetables, open sandwiches and salad. We didn't stay for coffee and dessert. I'm sure that was great too.
Excellent food and music! Everyone was friendly. I will be back for other events.
DENMARK Eat the World NYC review: The decorative theme could be described as a viking ship. Often the place is empty, making you feel a bit like Jack Nicholson from The Shining when they have ballroom music playing. But the remnants of Brooklyn's Scandinavian heritage are all part of the charm of the Danish Athletic Club. There are a lot of flags around, but not much language unfortunately. Many generations removed from their immigrant ancestors, Brooklyn-accented family members now take care of the place which is also used by the Norwegian community (and hosts quite a few quinceaneras these days to pay the bills). Dishes cater to US American palates rather than Scandinavian if we're honest, the people that do make it here are interested in hanging on to their heritage but much removed from the modern Scandinavian that is so popular these days.
Great food, retro feel. They have been around for over a century so they are doing something right. Try the gravy, it's like a drug it's so good.
Love it. Miss the walk in dinners. Please have it once a week.
Private club but public bar at times...very old school rustic feel.
