I called the hotline and was not greeted with an empathetic voice. I'm worried about the level of professionalism on the hotline. Uncaring. Also you can save the PR response as well.
I stayed here as well and its true I did get kicked out for not brining in an amount that was to the standard of \homeless voice\, I also stayed outside on a green mat , I also paid 15 in order not to go out and be a vendor for the day, and I got in trouble because I wasnt out making money!, for me it was a place to shower and eat, and actually that is all I wanted , a shower everyday and a meal!, do I think what Sean is doing is good?- sure but there is always other agendas behind any motives!
I use to be there a while back and There were more people doing drugs and on drugs in there more than people on the street. They had people sleeping on the floor OUTSIDE and people on the floor in the Cafeteria. If you did have a room they smelled to high heavens and had bed bugs in the rooms. They make you sell a paper on a corner all day and if you didn’t bring enough money in that day you could be in trouble and kicked out that night. I know because it’s happened to me more than once. Then when you bring in the money that you worked so hard for they take that money and u would be lucky to see a tenth of that back for yourself. That place was the worst part of my life and the owner Sean wasn’t any help he would be high on pills in his office all day. But that’s not here or there so... yea. I hope he doesn’t come back down to Broward County.
The Homeless Voice does a great job in the community if you have no place to go they take you in and provide shelter and help you get assistance if you qualify they try to help you get a resume going to find work if you are able and they are underfunded so please help these people because it is a worthy cause help with time money clothes shoes blankets also drop off a new toy for the kids around the holidays do what you can these people come from all walks of life with all kinds of stories and I thank God this place is there for them and they try hard for them I assure you it is not easy to run a homeless shelter people I also commend this place for using there people to get donations and providing them jobs and help finding jobs. As for me and my family WE SUPPORT THE HOMELESS VOICE OF HOLLYWOOD FLORIDA WITH OUR LOVE AND EVERY CHANCE WE GET TO SHOW SUPPORT. JUST DO IT!
