The Ottobine Roller Mill is also known as Paul’s Mill. The Ottobine Mill is located at 8061 Judge Paul Road. The main road is called Ottobine Road (SR 257). The Mill is in Ashley Township, Rockingham County, Virginia. The Ottobine Roller Mill’s location has been active in the milling business since 1799. The Mill building that is in existence today (2018), was built in 1937 on the previous mill foundation. Ottobine Roller Mill is a large three-story building with two levels of attic space. The height was used to elevate the conveyors up and down to process the grains at various levels within the mill. The water power was from Beaver Creek which runs about 600 feet behind the mill. As of 2010, there was a five-foot wide, fifteen-foot diameter steel waterwheel on the southeast side of the Mill. At this time, I am not able to discern if the waterwheel is still in place based on my satellite Google map. I plan to be visit Rockingham County soon. I am excited about updating my photos. I understand that the mill is occupied by private residents (Wikipedia). It is such a beautiful building, I am pleased to know that it is being maintained.
