Like a whole rest on a staff of music, a trip within the warm recesses of Fern Hollow will cause you to stop, and embrace the quiet. For those seeking such tranquility this is just the place. Lovingly restored, the old (mostly modern) log cabin invites you to sit, implores you to relax, and compels you to get out among the trees, gardens, and pathways of the Hollow. A warm welcome by our host Liz provided just enough information to get us started, and the informational notes and scrapbooks inside answered all our curious questions. One delightful touch was an acapella duet by Liz and Dan to bless us as we departed. The pleasant melody of Fern Hollow will play in my mind for a long time.

I've tried so many different ways to find peace of mind: meditation, float tanks... You name it. Until I had my best weekend getaway at Fern Hollow Cabin. This is a beautiful cabin with such a phenomenal history. Staying in a cabin is always a special experience, and the surroundings here are simply spetacular. Liz was a fantastic host, very friendly and helpful. She greeted me immediately with a beautiful smile when I arrived and she introduced to me all the details and history of the cabin. I got a chance to explore Decorah, a very cute and special little town with nice restaurants and coffee shops, and I spent the night in the cabin reading a book that I always wanted to finish but couldn't (because of my busy schedule like everyone else who lives in the city). My pup got a chance to run in the woods without a leash on her neck.We both had an AMAZING time! We swung by Liz's house to say goodbye before heading out, but ended up talking about energy conservation measures and politics with Liz and Daniel for almost an hour. This is no doubt the most unforgettable weekend that I've ever had. Thank you Liz and Daniel! Hope to see you again soon.
