I came in for a skim board. The kid they had help me didn't seem to have any real knowledge of skim boards. He just read the stickers to find one that said it was for my weight. A local surf shop should supply more expertise than this. What is best for the local conditions, etc... not just reading stickers. After more research online, this board is too small for me and the local conditions, and a waste of 250. Now I need another if I want to pursue this hobby.

Great shop, fun atmosphere and the core instructors (GC, Tom, and. Victor) are fantastic and passionate teachers. Being close the the touristy area and Boca I was expecting a millennial stuck up environment but couldn't be more wrong. Highly recommended for locals and tourists.

After starting our day with a green lavender, matcha at the coffee shop inside Island Water Sports, we ventured out to Deerfield Beach Pier with Giancarlo \GC\ for my daughter's private surf lesson (also offered in shop by reservation)! GC was able to take 'non perfect conditions' at the beach and make them work. My daughter was able to tweek her surf skills and had a great surf day! Everyone in IWS was helpful and accommodating. We finished our day looking at all the cute beach clothes in store, and bought a really cute bracelet as a souvenir. We were shocked that even tho the day was cold, the water was warm! Def recommend the shop, the lessons and the area if you are into surfing
Came in today looking to gain more knowledge before I go through with picking out my first surfboard to practice the fundamentals. Shout out to Mason for guiding me how to pick one based off on my current abilities. Definitely more confident now in the selection process. Stay safe, Shawn
