Would highly recommend Black Hog Knives to anyone interested in forging a knife. It was a lot of fun and you learn so much about the forging process. Chad is a great instructor and doesn't let you stray too far off the path of making a knife to your own specifications. As someone who had never done anything like this before I was very happy with my knife and would do this again.

What can I say!!! This was awesome!! Chad is a great instructor and just a fun dude. If you've ever wanted to make a knife, here is your opportunity and you should not pass on taking it. You've got nothing to lose in taking this course. You'll laugh, meet new people and create your own personal Knife. Plus you get a cool story to tell on Monday to all the people who just sat around and wished they could do something cool like that themselves. 1 day or 2 days, it's your choice and either way you'll have a great time. I was gifted the full forge experience for my birthday, and the experience was awesome! Chad was very knowledgeable, helpful, and a great instructor. I highly recommend checking out Black Hog Knives for a true forging experience! I definitely plan on returning to learn more and make another knife!
I took the 2 day training course and was extremely happy with the complete experience. My very first knife came out far better than I ever expected. See attached photo. I would recommend that anyone that's wanting to pursue knifesmithing to take this course.
I surprised my Dad with a 2 day private class for us here and it surpassed every expectation I had! Chad really went the extra mile by forging a knife at the same time as us to make sure we knew how to approach each step with clarity. It was cool to have the freedom to make the blades however we wanted, especially with Chad’s guidance to let us know if we were close to making an error. I can’t say enough wonderful things about our experience. It definitely won’t be our last. Thank you again!
Just finished a 2 day experience and it was fantastic! Just book a class, walk away with a lot more knowledge, great memories, and most importantly an awesome knife!
My fiancé and I took Chad’s one day Bladesmith Basics course. Chad’s patience and love for his craft made this an unbelievable experience. I was nervous about working with the forge but Chad’s calm and encouraging demeanor helped me gain confidence as the class progressed. Not only is Chad a gifted craftsman, but he is a gifted teacher. I would recommend this class to anyone.
