Had a great time! Shady, private site. Spring rain left water in low area around grill. Not a problem as we just grilled over the camp fire!

This is a very nice park. We were here for 2 weeks during the cold weather blast 2-13 till 2-28-21. The park allowed us to stay 17 days due to the weather. This is a revisit later for us. Thanks to Regina for everything.

Great state park. Close to the World Heritage Site of Poverty Point. Bath house is air-conditioned, hot showers. Even has soap and paper towels. Site 48 was great. Shaded and somewhat secluded. (Sites with septic are less shaded and lack seclusion). Hiking trail around park was ok. Needed a little clearing and better signage. Biked down to lake, which is scenic and has boardwalks. Campground didn't have firewood and couldn't find it locally. But maybe it's still too hot. Overall great park.

Poverty Point Reservoir is a beautiful backdrop for watching sunsets and waterfowl migration. The cabins are clean and spacious. The view from the kitchen is breath taking. A fully equipped kitchen is provided. Huge screened in porch . Nice boat ramp just for your cabin. I particularly enjoyed the cabin because of the gentle swaying motion - very peaceful and relaxing. While there, you must try the Waterfront Grill at the nearby Black Bear Golf Course. Also, the Indian mounds tour is fascinating.

Had a fantastic time. I rented a cabin, which was amazing, nicest cabin I've ever seen. The lake is absolutely gorgeous, the trails are well kept, and the workers were friendly. I didn't do any fishing, but would be a great place to bring a boat. 10/10 would recommend.

I'm afraid to post this for fear of not having an open site the next time we need it. This was a real surprise. Wide generous sites, full hookups, easy in and out, well maintained, friendly people, great places to walk, and camping under the stars. The crickets and cicadas were so loud you couldn't hear anything else... But I loved it. Access to boat ramp to reservoir, welcome center / museum, locked gate, cabins, and kids splash park.
