Great counter eating! Staff was very nice, oysters are fresh and cheap (2 each), chef chatted me up the entire time, and they have wonderful specials. Great lunch spot.

These ratings don’t reflect Tammen’s at all! I spoke with Taylor at Tammen’s yesterday to inquire whether they carried black cod—he was so helpful and informative! Upon arriving today, I interacted with Laura (the head chef) and Alex. Not only were they a pleasure to converse with, but they went above and beyond, trimming off the skin and along the bloodline of the fish, explaining the whole process along the way. Laura even recommended cooking techniques for the recipe I was preparing and an additional preparation option that sounds wonderful! If you are exploring new frontiers in seafood, I can’t recommend Tammen’s enough!

“Greeted” pretty rudely. Clearly not into serving customers. Despite being empty when I walked up, took much longer than I’d expect to get a quick salad at lunch. Good thing I ordered the large poke because a small wouldn’t have been enough food. A bare minimum amount of rice. When it was finally ready the lunch was plopped on the counter and my buzzer went off. In an effort to make sure it was mine and ask for additional rice I stood at the counter and was ignored for several minutes until at last I left. The only employee there hid behind the counter and fridge where I could not see him or get his attention. Really terrible service. The poke was good but not great and I can go other places to get better food with better service. Certainly not worth the wait. Some of them are literally just ten steps away from this guy! In the future i will avoid at all costs.

Got the corn and crab chowder, it was ok. Only given a half a bowl. Was told that was the serving size(?). They should put half a bowl on the menu.

I thought the civeche was really flavourful and 1 oysters on Tuesdays!
