Came in early afternoon, one of my children was a little ornery. Waiter was so nice and wonderful. Helped selecting our food. Wonderful dishes, the two meat and rice platter, what ever the name was had such wonderful spice(not hot). My daughter, miss spice sensitive ate it, because it was too good even though her mouth was spicy. She never does that! Definitely coming back when in DeMoines

few co-workers and I try to have Diversity Lunches once a month and this month we happened upon Open Sesame. This place is on the smaller size, but the decor is beautiful. Our waitress was nice and knowledgeable about the menu. I ordered an ice-tea, Gyro rice plate, and baklava. The tea had an herbal taste to it, something I didn't recognize, but very tasty without being sweet. The Gyro rice plate has Gyro meat with jalapenos and hot sauce over rice, with a side of salad and pita bread. The meat was tender and flavorful, but I didn't think it was very spicy. The baklava was very nutty with a wonderful buttery base. This place is definitely worth the visit and then some!!
AUTHENTIC super good!
I’ve lived in 4 cities in the past 2 years and I think this restaurant may be my favorite. It’s at least top 3. The food and spices and everything is just so good. They’ve also really mastered take out. You don’t feel like the quality has dipped when getting it in take out format. This place is amazing.
There is a reason that shawarma was mentioned in the Avengers movies. It is amazing. Open Sesame has the best shawarma in Des Moines. If you were thinking of trying it, just do it!
