Awesome first experience at Dirk’s! They showed us how to shuck an oyster and were so helpful. Fresh taste and great quality! Would definitely go back for oysters and their other seafood.

Had a question about Bosu (amazing flavor) oysters and the friendly man behind the counter insisted on shucking me one. The bosu was so plump and refreshing that i was left a little speechless. He then dropped a fresh scallop in the remainder of the oyster juice and it was really interesting and delicious. He then proceeded to show another customer how to shuck an oyster. He also was managing his staff behind the counter really well. So much passion and love for the product and the customers. I wish I didn’t live so far away or I would come here all the time. The first time I came here was in 2009 and it’s still the same when I visited today. It gets really busy here during the holidays so place your orders in advance and don’t forget the cocktail sauce or some sushi for the road. Prices seemed pretty normal to me. You get exactly what you pay for. I’m not really even sure where else you can get this quality of seafood at retail in Chicago.

I have always wanted to check this place out based on word of mouth. At the end of the day of a Friday I waited 40 minutes to get in and I felt like it could have been better managed. The fish looks fantastic and I would definitely come back and try again. (If the line isn't long)
