This man should no longer provide therapy. I went to see him for an introductory session after having to send a bio to him prior to meeting (this should have been a flag). At my second session I had forgotten my check book and Donovan then accused me of stealing from him since I couldn’t pay him. I brought a check with me the following week and decided I would no longer see him. He then mailed me a statement with my diagnosis written as “borderline personality disorder”. First off all, clinicians never should write out their diagnosis on a receipt and they also should not be diagnosing anyone after two sessions. Thirdly, I found a way better therapist in the area and spent the first 6 months working through the amount of panic I had from receiving the wrong diagnosis for a severe psychiatric disorder that I don’t have. Turns out it is anxiety. I would like to warn anyone considering going to Donovan. He is not a good practitioner and you should think twice before going to him. Beware!!!! — Thanks for the response Donovan. It was 100% you and I’m happy to share the email exchange with anyone that needs more information to make a better decision for themselves. I had a genuinely terrible experience and I hope that you’ll re-consider your intake process and how you treat your clients.
