We planned a vacation to Michigan during Thanksgiving to visit family. Since we have 3 kids we were looking for a place with indoor pool. We decided to book Blue Orchid Cottage in South Haven, MI. The actual unit was ok. My complaint is that the big selling point of this place for me was its beautiful indoor pool and spa. To our dismay this indoor pool/spa is just seasonally open. When we called to complaint we just got a text back saying is in the contract.... yes the small print. If you use large photos of your indoor spa to advertise your property you should make it very clear when you months of operation should be provided not in a fine print. It's indoor... I would have never guessed in a million years that it would be closed for our stay. Just posting this here so you are aware of what you get if you come when the pool/spa is closed just the rental which is nice but with small kids to have a pool was my first requirement in searching for a place to stay.

My husband and i reserved a vacation rental for June 2 and 3 with Quaint Cottages thru VRBO on March 11, 2020. to our dismay shortly thereafter Covid 19 struck and we were in the midst of a global pandemic. both Illinois where we live and Michigan, our destination, issued orders prohibiting travel to vacation rentals. both my husband and I are over 65 and we had planned to vacation with friends also both over 65 from two separate households. clearly it would have been unwise for any of the 4 of us to risk contracting this devastating illness or to risk infecting each other. therefore we cancelled our reservation on april 27. Quaint Cottages refused to refund our deposit. Do not book with Quaint Cottages or VRBO!!!! for them even a global pandemic is not sufficient reason for cancellation. they would much prefer to endanger the lives of 4 senior citizens and keep the cash.
Quaint Cottages and Ethan Barde is the best rental management company in the Saugatuck area. Our bookings are significantly better than the previous company. As a long distance owner I have complete trust in Ethan. He handles maintenance problems efficiently, finds good renters, makes helpful suggestions and is always professional. I am so glad I am working with Ethan. He has not let me down and is very knowledgeable. .
This our second stay at the Oriole, and we love it. Place is clean and well stocked. Very quiet and serene, so restful. We were given good instructions from the property management, and as we weren't rude to play loud music and disturb neighbors, we never even saw them. Definitely recommend.
Most Beautiful rental in Saugatuck/Douglas! Would highly recommend staying at any of their homes!
