With the safety of the covid. 2 lines are divided for vaccine for animals and licenses. Only 1 person may enter with pet. Parking not bad but the staff do a great job to keep the guest. Line might be long but it depends on the hour you go. Sunday and Monday they're closed and hour did change. Safety counts here for you and pets

I am not particularly happy with how this place handles certain situations with lost dogs. I found a dog and held him while posting on social media to find his owner. Sure enough, after a couple days, someone contacted me and we contacted the owner (The dog had no collar and no chip). I returned the dog RIGHTFULLY to the owner on the 1st of February. Apparently, the same dog was found again on my street the following morning. When I called SEAACA to let them know that I knew the dog and the owner, they simply said it didn't matter since he had a full adoption list. My MAIN ISSUE lies with how they spoke to me about how I handled the situation. The operator was UPSET I gave the dog back to his owner instead of taking the dog in myself. Um...I'm pretty sure that would be theft. Especially after doing my due diligence and finding the rightful owner with little to know information to work with. They had put him up for adoption the same day he was turned in. ID# 21-06414 His name is Kobe. I'm happy he is going to a good home, but I am upset that I was told \Well you should have kept him.\ I'm sorry... Is that the instructions you give to everyone who finds a stray dog? Just to keep it? Horrible.

I had called and asked for information regarding dog licenses...I was given good advice from a friendly person...when I went in to show my dogs rabies certificate The lady was friendly ... I have always gone to Seaaca in Downey and never had a bad encounter...being a high kill shelter, I go to save a dogs life...all kennels smell, And I have noticed that they clean and care for the dogs...yes, it could use better ventilation...I'm not complaining.

We adopted our Husky/Pitt mix from here back in January and he has been perfect from day one! This place gets way too many animals for what they have space for, so there is a high turn over rate and animals are out down quickly. The kennels are kept pretty clean, but you can tell the dogs don't get walked often, if at all. This place definitely has its problems, and it isn't the only high kill shelter in the neighborhood, however the animals they can afford to put up for adoption are at least fed and given shelter. If you are really that offended by the reality, there are also many no-kill shelters in the area too! As for the staff, I think many of the negative reviews are overdramatic. In my experience they are doing their job just fine for what is I can only imagine a very frustrating one. Would you be so overly-courteous if you had to be around poor abandoned animals all day, and then have someone yell at you cause they don't want to follow the rules? Have some respect.
