If I could give this doctor zero stars I would. I made an appointment in the first week of this year and my appointment for surgery consultation was set for February 19th. I received a call from his medical assistant yesterday and she stated that she believes that the surgeon does not specialize in this specific area and that he would rather provide recommendations for other surgeons. So I then had to reiterate how unprofessional this call was considering the fact that I had to wait almost a month and a half for them to even give me this answer. I basically remained in pain for nothing and my time was completely wasted. This surgery is not a want but rather a need considering the fact that I have immense pain that I have to suffer through daily. Her response to me stating how unprofessional this was was to tell me that she was doing me a favor by telling me a week ahead of my scheduled appointment, rather than me having to physically go to the appointment to find that out. So if this behavior is tolerated then I'm glad that he was not the surgeon to resolve my pain. Also, since that call, I've never received another call from the medical assistant and I've never received any of the recommendations from the surgeon. No matter how busy you are, this is not they way that you should treat people.

I have been suffering from chronic pain from having a inguinal hernia repair. I was referred to by another Dr. I didn't know what to expect when I had an appointment in March 2020. After the consult we scheduled surgery and 3 years of chronic pain. Dr. Gillespie changed my life for the better. If you are having complications from hernia mesh surgery I highly recommend seeing him and his staff. It has changed for the better! God Bless him and his staff. They were very professional and treated me with respect and empathy.

I am a retired surgical device company executive needing umbilical hernia repair. After lots of research for the best Phoenix surgeon, I chose Dr. Gillespie and robotic hernia repair. Dr. Gillespie has performed over 500 robotic procedures, and is the best in Phoenix IMO. My surgery went perfectly, with almost no post-op pain. As an added benefit, the hernia repair also improved my lower back pain by 90%! Don't go to any other surgeon if you need hernia surgery! Dr. Gillespie is the best!

Dr. Gillespie is one of the kindest and knowledgeable doctors I've ever had. He repaired a ventral hernia that I've had growing for many years. I really wish I had met this surgeon before I met all the other doctors that told me, let's wait and see. I could've saved myself a lot of pain had I taken care of this years ago. Please, if you're putting off hernia surgery, get in touch with Dr. Gillespie right away so you can make the correct decision on when to have surgery. I'm in my 60s and overweight, yet he was able to do a beautiful job with robotic-assist laparoscopic surgery. Much faster recovery time and very little scarring. When seeing him, he acts like you're the only patient he has. He actually cares about his patients. He's kind and funny, attentive and encouraging. He even drew illustrations to explain his answers to my questions. And he's very easy to talk to.

If you have a hernia, find a surgeon who specializes in hernia repair -- that's Dr Thomas Gillespie. The doctor, his staff (especially Mitzy) and the interns and staff at St Joseph's Hospital are the best! One month ago, Dr Gillespie surgically repaired an incisional hernia from a previous, unrelated operation which had been \growing\ for some time. Following my hernia repair surgery I had minimal discomfort for two days - none thereafter. Now, less than four weeks after surgery I have resumed my normal activities without restriction. Thank you, Dr Gillespie!
