Good for kids
If you are up for a little adventure take the route outside of Pio Pico thousand trails campground. The road is narrow and rough but you can’t beat the views. We saw several deer and a coyote. Don’t try this route with anything lower than a small suv.

I love abandoned places and taking cool photos and this is the perfect place to get some amazing shots. The graffiti is a real work of art and makes the perfect back drop. The hike in total can be up to 2 miles, if you're up for it, and if not, the dam is close to the road and where you'll park (for free). Be careful in the summer because of the famous California rattle snakes; bring a walking stick. Enjoy.
Its a good local truck trail. The side trail can go to intermediate to hard levels but the main trail is easy level.
Very nice, no problem with social distance, and felt nice to remove the mask for a bit.
