Wasn’t feeling hungry and I wanted to get something light, so I decided to order a takeout of some of the side menus from here. Sad to see that their takeout menus were vastly limited compared to their dine-in menus, but I decided to get the patate (potato gratin), funghi, and verdure nonetheless. The potato gratin was nice and creamy, but there was nothing special that justified its price tag (7). Verdure was very similar to collard greens and it was too salty to taste any subtlety of different flavors. Funghi was okay but also for the price, I couldn’t believe that there was nothing that particularly stood out. Packaging boxes were also delivered to me in a used Wholefoods bag, and since paper bags can’t be sanitized, I felt unsafe opening the bag during a pandemic. If they didn’t have a proper paper bag, I would’ve just happily taken them without a bag, but it was disappointing to see that they can’t manage packaging in a considerate manner.

We love the food and the wine each time we go to Convivio. Tonight we greatly enjoyed the winter menu with black truffles. Thank you Giuseppe and Paulo for another unique dining experience.
Excellent! Probably the best I’ve had. The gnocchi and risotto were perfect. When we visit Durham again, we plan to come again.
This is the kind of place you can always bring family and friends because you know they will be impressed. If you have a love for Italy and Italian food you will surely feel like you’re right at home. Giuseppe and Paolo balance each other and create a welcoming environment with incredible dishes and vast knowledge of Italian culture food and wine. My family, friends and I often enjoy meals here and we will continue to support and enjoy such a wonderful restaurant.
