I want to to thank Jess the young man that helped us with the purchase of our bike rack. Jess patiently showed us the ins and outs of every Thule bike rack in the store. At the end he even came out to the car and showed how to put it on the car. Great job Jess I hope your management appreciates the fine job that you do.

I got some great advise here on a pair of hiking boots for a trip to Argentina as well as a rugged duffel bag for the travel. Glad EMS is in town!

Breaking all the rules of retail. I arrived as the store at 8pm (the website states they are open until 9pm) and was greeted by the woman at the register (probably the manager) with a cheerful, "We're closing now!" I explained that I just need one thing, and she tells me that she's closing the register -- muttering something about needing to get out. I ran back and got the item and brought it forward. In the meantime she was reluctantly finishing off the last customers and stating that they have to lock the door. Someone mentioned that the website shows that they are open until 9pm. Her response is, we called IT about that today -- as if that helps any of us. As it turns out, the item that I had to rush to get was the wrong thing -- so I'll be returning it tomorrow.

If you're a very active man, looking for pants that can keep up with your demands, then EMS is unfortunately not for you. Their pants fall apart in under 2 years, sometimes less than 1 year. Their socks aren't much better. You'd figure a pair of 12 socks should last a few years, but try again. Less than a year in kost cases. Shirts and bags are all EMS is good for, and that's okay, I just wish I hadn't thrown away the money I did. Other "outdoor" brands have far exceeded my expectations. A 40 pair of pants should be good for 4-6 years at least. If we're going into an era of shody workmanship, or disposable clothes, then don't charge more than 5-10 per garment, or 2 for socks.

The manager was very VERY rude. I tried to walk in with my dog (a small hypoallergenic dog) and he was immediately being rude. Instead of being polite and asking me to keep my dog outside he attacked my sister and I verbally and refused to simply speak with us. We're now driving 25 minutes to another Eastern Mountain Sports store. It was shocking how rude and unprofessional this man was. Would not recommend.

Pretty good outdoor store. Carries most of the equipment you'd need, but not much variety.

Good equipment but often very high prices
