Incredible, world-class university with cutting-edge research currently being conducted. Preference is definitely given to all of the science departments, main emphasis is definitely on STEM here. As a Physics major w/ 3 science minors, I can definitely appreciate how much funding we get, but liberal arts are clearly struggling. Only major complaint is the abysmal parking situation. The lack of strategic planning for parking is laughable, however the insanely low price of tuition and the parking permits themselves completely overrides any small complaints such as this

UTRTV is an expanding University with a variety of majors available. University also has a branch located in Brownsville Texas. Edinburg location is large so make sure you have your google Maps readily available to navigate the campus if you’re new.

Very little effort put in by the staff to do anything more than waste their students' time and money. Impossible to get hold of any of the advisory staff when it comes to things like tuition, curriculum, or international student programs. My SO has been going to this college on an education visa for years (more than she should have needed to to begin with) and sank a lot of money into getting a proper education, and the lack of effort to facilitate this for both her and other students- domestic or foreign- deeply disturbs me. It's been nothing but a constant source of stress and a constant hemorrhage in her wallet. Apparently this school is on probation for their overt lack of quality/effort but because members of the school body have good connections it's been kept open. School board really needs to dig their claws into this place and start making some major, sincere changes.

I paid over 30k for a degree consisting of mostly terrible professors that weren't even necessary since the work they gave was straight from the textbooks. They just lazily read PowerPoints and told us that Republicans are evil. My major kind of felt like a 4 year-long joke, difficulty of classes was either super easy or unreasonably hard because the professor would bombard students with assignments and essays. I definitely don't feel any more educated, just more poor. I can at least positively say I got my degree, there was 2 good memorable professors, and I had a student job while I was there. Tuition is now gonna be free for most students so at least they're gonna get their money's worth.

Money hungry. When I came here it was 3,600 a semester and free bike parking since they never increased parking spaces but were more than happy to over sell tags. Now there charging for bikes that too! I wonder how many staff members they fired for all these new buildings. Not to mention you cant ask a simple question to faculty here on test prep day cause there full of themselves kicking you out of lines. She's on the left. Anyways not what it once was. At least the Shrine is still standing, but for by how long before they remove God and Country from there campuses.
