Red Onion is a popular, well-known and authentic Taiwanese restaurant among NYC and NJ. We were recommended by lots of friends especially for their shaved ice bowl. Finally, we got a chance to visit the neighborhood and couldn’t wait to try. The decor of Red Onion is humble so you might miss easily. We had their Fried Pork Chop, Five Flavor Intestine and String Bean. The food was overall delicious especially the fried pork chop. It was well-fried, flavorful and juicy inside with crunchy layer. We were there for their Shaved Ice with Red Bean & Condescend Milk and it’s definitely worth our drive from queens. The red bean was braised creamy and the ice was shaved in delicate pieces. Red Onion is one of our favorite Taiwanese restaurants now in NYC & NJ. However, we live too far or we will visit more often.
Such an amazing hole in the wall. If you need yourself a pork belly bun, come here. It's called the Taiwanese Style Burger. Amazing delicious. Not to mention the Taiwanese Duck.... extremely tender, juicy, and deliciously memorable. Some of the best duck I have ever had. Give this place a try.
Great food and great people. We got the Taiwanese style burger and the duck and were amazed at how good they were. Would definitely recommend and will definitely be back!
I haven't had Taiwanese food since my last trip to Taiwan about 5 years ago. I was excited to see a Taiwanese restaurant in the area and had to stop and try it. Service is very friendly. We ordered two classic famous Taiwanese dishes: pork chop rice and beef noodle soup. The beef soup had real huge chunks of beef and the noodles were handmade. Both tasted ok and were decent. Not sure if it tasted as good as the food in Taiwan though. What's really disappointing is the scallion pancake It literally is a scallion pancake...one scallion in the entire pancake!! See pic. Is there a shortage of scallions???
