Okay I'm sorry but this school is just UGH. They don't care about the emotional/mental needs of each student and only seem to care about the money and score the students get. They seem to favor the Senior class, most likely trying to make sure they all graduate and go to college so it makes the school look good. Literally, they get a bunch of field trips and all sorts of things while the younger ones have to sit through a whole class of notes. No field trips, no college visits, nothing. There are some very good teachers here I must admit, Ms.Alonzo, Ms.Castaneda, Ms.Romero, Mr.Bralich, Ms.Ash and many others. I'm not hating on them. In fact a lot of them say that they dislike some of the assignments we're given but it has to be done. They don't even seem to consider that students learn differently. Not only that, they're required to go in earlier. On top of that, they give A LOT of assignments and very little time to complete them. I've also noticed the coaches really favor the kids in sports- Oh- Speaking of sports, there aren't as many sports options as other schools! Not only that, they don't have as many electives. For example, they don't have choir nor piano, unlike my old school. I mean, I enjoyed it during middle school, plus it got me ahead on credits and other stuff, but at what cost? My mental health? My emotional health? My passion for school itself. Like- my mother was able to graduate early- yet she didn't go to any special school. I love learning, but this school just makes it not fun. So that's why I'm transferring, I just hope it's the right choice. Before going here, ask yourself if this is for you. Have a good day!

The curriculum is TERRIBLE and there are some HORRIBLE teachers employed here. This is such a disappointment, as the El Paso community could have benefitted from a strong educational program. Many staff are unprofessional and in my opinion do not have the appropriate growth mindset required to serve children and their families. Do not send your child(ren) here until there is a massive change in staff and the curriculum is more rigorous and thought provoking.

This school is definitely a challenge and it does push you, sometimes too much. However, over the past 3 years I've been at this school I have learned sooooo much and I've grown with all my peers, which to this day I don't regret a thing. Yes, I miss my old school a lot. But this school has given me an unforgettable experience everything from good to bad. So honestly...vivalaywla!!!

Definitely a challenge ,but if you do consider sending your 6th grade daughter here make sure she DOES NOT have a rolling backpack

If I could give this school zero starts that would be more appropriate. The teachers are either unable or unwilling to help. Mediocre teachers at best. I was so excited for my daughter to be attending YWLA and have been extremely disappointed. The principal Mrs. Villalobos is very kind and tries to help but the teachers are just inept

I have had the most miserable school year at YWLA. The teachers are not helpful when you don’t understand something they just say “ read your notes” there is no genuine interest in the students comprehending the materials. Not all students learn in the same way and that is not taken into consideration. If I just had one good teacher I think that would make a big difference but all my teachers are BAD. I hope my mom moves me schools soon. I’m not happy here

Beautiful school...great teachers....great opportunity for all the girls. It's a true blessing for our community.

If your kid wants to play football, put them in city football. The coaches do not allow all the kids to play, which is very discouraging. The principal will do nothing about it. The worst part is seeing something hurting your kids feelings and not being able to do anything about it.
