We closed on our house January 2018. Before deciding to build our home with Overstreet, my husband and I visited the model home for 3 years until we were ready. Jim in the Elgin office is wonderful! He’s always pleasant and happy when we visit the model home, answered all of our questions. Jim helped us in every step of the way building our dream home! He’s very honest, he did not upsell anything that we don’t need. He helped us stay within our budget!! The whole entire time while the house is getting built, he walked us through, explained every detail and communicated with my husband if anything changed or if something comes up. Besides helping me and my husband built our home, Jim helped my sisters and their family built their home as well. Sue at customer service is the sweetest, she follows up when we have issues. We love our custom built home! We’re glad that Jim helped us.

My wife and I stopped in on a weekend to look at the model and spoke with Jim who seemed pretty informative and helpful. I told him our price range, which was at the minimum there houses start at, but we wanted to walk through an existing home to get a feel for the layouts anyways. After a few emails back and forth communication stopped from Jim, i tried two more times to reach out with response. About 6 months later i replied to one of the marketing emails from one of the owners and described what had happened. The next morning I received a call from Doug Overstreet apologizing and asked if I would like Jim to reach out again. Well later that afternoon Jim called, and we were working again on setting up a walk through. After a few emails Jim quit responding again, finally getting back to me telling me there was a family emergency. This is understandable so I told him he could contact me in a few days. It has been over 2 months and I'm still waiting for him to get back to me. We have since purchased a lot from a different builder who actually took us seriously.

Great people that build amazing homes, my wife and I are very happy with our decision. The Highland Woods community is just wonderful, school on site, clubhouse with a pool, etc... Ultimately, the question is would you build with Overstreet again...my answer would be resounding YES!!!! See Jim Janik at the sales office for the start of your awesome journey :-)

I guess I should have read the reviews before I started working with Overstreet. We decided to look for houses and ended up in Elgin area. We looked at few houses and thought about it and decided to go see overstreet builders and build our own house. We got information on one weekend and next weekend we decided to look at some pricing. We got into it deeper and started looking at some detailed pricing, financing options, pre-approvals, lot, type of floor plan, etc. In between all these, we took my in-laws and my friends to just walk down the model. Finally, after several visits to lot and community and several discussions, we decided to confirm on a lot. Since we wanted the lot at a specific orientation, but we let go some things and we finalized on a lot. Next thing was finalizing on some options, confirm the floor plan and move forward. Upon deciding on a Sunday to move forward, I received a comment back from overstreet saying someone else is interested in the lot as well. So, we had more internal discussions and tried to reach overstreet to help with some pricing. I was discussing with overstreet on Monday evening around 9:30 PM. On Tuesday morning, I discussed with my wife and we confirmed everything with overstreet over the phone. After few hours, I got a call asking me that since I didn’t finalize the lot, overstreet have to be fair to other buyer in giving them a chance on the same lot that we like. I understand the situation and I said ok. So, overstreet said this all stuff might be completed by Close of business on Wednesday. Surprise surprise, I received a call on Wednesday around 6:30 pm or something saying the lot is sold to another buyer. We didn’t get a chance to say something or even counter offer. If I would have known this, we might have gone in and signed the contract and said no on Tuesday when overstreet asked me to be fair to other buyer. We are utterly disappointed with the whole experience.
