This is a great little place to stop for breakfast or lunch. We came in for lunch on a Tuesday afternoon and had great food and service. Will visit again.

I am guessing this is a place that needs the locals to come out and support them during the pandemic. So many items on the menu that we wanted to try but they were out of our top choices. Meatloaf, smoked sausage and pulled pork were sold out and no icecream for the cobbler. We ended up trying a version of the Smoke Stack burger which was missing the pulled pork and sausage. They made up for it by giving us a large portion of brisket and extra bacon. The brisket was tender but I wish I had gotten brisket cut from the wet end. They should also offer some type of sauce to go with it. I ordered my burger medium rare and it arrived with no pink. Still juicy enough to eat but I missed the juicy rare burger that I was craving. Food was a little slow coming out but everything was hot. Deep fried mushrooms and onion rings were top notch. Our server was friendly and kept us informed of wait times. We will have to go back and try them for lunch so we can try some of the items we were hoping for. 630 on a Friday was too late to get the full experience.
The food is always fresh and delicious, and the ladies serving couldn't be nicer. I had the ribeye recently, and it was seasoned perfectly. The atmosphere made it 4 stars and not 5, but its clean.
The 1st time the family and tried Bernie’s was the 1st weekend they opened. As any new restaurant with new owners to the business, it’s going to take them a few weeks maybe a couple of months to work out the ins and outs of the business. With that being said I didn’t feel it would be fair for me to post a review. So here it’s been a while since they have been open. The salad bar is not worth charging for with wilted lettuce, the tomatoes I’m pretty sure we’re a few days old as well as other toppings. Dinners entrees were good, portion sizes and presentation need some help. This place has the potential to be a hidden gold mine in Elizabeth. 01/11/19 We decided to try Bernie’s again it’s been a long while sense the last time. I always see posts on Facebook of their food. The special for the night was the fish and chips. Figured ok I will give it a try. NOT GOOD!!!!!!! 1st things it’s all you can eat. The 1st plate you get should have 2-3 pieces of fish. They bring you 1. Super greasy, and fish was purchased at the frozen food department. After this experience, my 1 star review still stands. I feel like other menu items might be better, but that’s beside the point. If you’re going to have a weekly or nightly special it should be as good if not better that your regular menu items
