Very old spring fed pond. Lined with similar construction as the Old City Lake in Sedan. Vertically stacked sandstone, no mortar, flat, about the size of your head and 3 or 4 inches thick. Laid into the dam around the emergency spillway like you would put books on a shelf. They also, using the same sandstone made a \fish dam\. They built a wall, again with no mortar, that the water passes though, but keeps the fish in for the most part. The pond sits just to the east and bit back north of the parking area. Just follow the gravel path and at the corral, take the left path. It's about a mile hike, but worth it. Cattails and Lilly pads. Bass, cats, perch, crappie... usually very clear. Doesn't take a lot of runoff as it's up the hill some. Good pond to go to if you don't mind a little walk. Fishing with a tube and fins would be ideal.
