Backpacked to the Pinestraw campground, took my 3 kiddos youngest is 7, it is roughly 2.5 miles. The trail would be pretty brutal in the summer, not much shade when the sun is up. It was nice early in the day in January though. Campsite was great, had a nice picnic table and fire ring, plus lots of room for tents. Warning: very little water to be had so bring your own!

Stayed at the primitive camp over the weekend. What a beautiful place and great campsite. A little warm the weekend we went but totally worth it for the views.

The group campsite is fantastic for the price. It is primitive so bring plenty of water and a power supply source if you require it. Our party of 10 enjoyed the spaciousness, trails and solitude. Definitely going back.

The north bound hiking trails are just tracks made by tractors. The scenery is very nice.

Need to go when the ground is very dry, walking paths were all closed. Be mindful of deer ticks. Looks like it is more suited for tent camping & hunting.
