My husband and I ate here twice during a recent trip - once for dinner and once for a dim sum brunch. We really enjoyed it both times. The Shanghai soup dumplings are fantastic, we ended up getting two orders because they were so good. The broth is flavorful and the meat is tender. We also really enjoyed the house special green beans and the XO radish patties. The steamed BBQ pork buns are smaller than I’ve had in the past but I enjoyed that because the ratio of bread to meat was better and they were really yummy. If I lived in Eugene, I’d be a regular and work my way through the menu because they have a lot of yummy sounding dishes.

Spice N Steam has a varied menu and good quality food. The dim sum was lovely. The Cantonese style BBQ duck was good but during the serving a wrap bun was dropped on the table by the server instead of disposing of it and getting a new one she left it. That's not good especially during these times! Finally the noodles were rather dry. If someone had checked on us we would have expressed our misgivings.
John was such a gracious host. The food was authentic and very delicious. Everything we tried was amazing and the drink selection was unmatched! They have the real taste of China here folks! My family and I will definitely be back.
Tried their delivery service. Ran into a bit of a situation where our food was promised by a certain time and then said it was delivered, but no food was on the porch. So I waited twenty minutes and then tried to call, but their phone was having issues. I ended up sadly having to drive to the restaurant to check on my food. By the time I had arrived the food had apparently got to my house, but wasn't exactly warm. I informed them of the situation and the gentleman helping me explained how they were busy, had new employees, and apologized. He rectified the situation by giving us almost half off our order! This is how you do business. Accidents happen. Places get busy. Mistakes are made, but it is the places that empathize with the customer and handle the pressure and situation correctly that are impressive. The food was also good after a little reheating. Thank you all for making a slight bummer of a situation more acceptable. Respect. We will be back!
This is my 1st time to visit this year, and the 2nd time overall, and have been very pleased with the food quality, service, and the facility. I am a native Chinese with American-born Chinese (ABC) kids. All of us can find something that we really like here: authentic or americanized or in between. The dishes are mainly from Cantonese cuisine but have incorporated other styles such as Sichuan and Northern China. The serving size is very very generous. By the way, I saw one review complaining about the dryness of the noodle. If that person was ordering what I ordered today, I have to say that is not a flaw but how it is supposed to be: the noodle should be fried to crispy and crunchy inside, and a little softened by the juice of the meat and the veggies outside. It is a traditional Shanghai/Jiangsu style dish literally called “yellow/golden on both sides", which I grew up eating.
Been eating here for about 4 years now. The food quality has dropped lately. Last time I got shrimp dumplings they were hard. Another time my wife got a rubber band in her food. Last time they served me orange beef that was mostly fat and breading. Definitely not returning and I've spent thousands here. It's sad to see panda express even has better quality. As a Japanese man it saddens me to see the Asian community represented in this was. Truly disgraceful. I have lived in 4 states and the orange beef this is top 5 worst food I have ever had. Maybe something went wrong idk but it's been getting so bad I won't be returning.
The soup dumplings were okay. I ordered and paid for 2 orders of them and only got one. After traveling all day I didn’t want to deal with going back and getting my order corrected. Sesame balls were underdone. Schezuan dumplings could have used quite a bit more spice and a lot less cloves. The seaweed salad and shrimp dumpling were good.
Real authentic Chinese food, so hot so fresh. This place is located directly across the street from the Hilton, Downtown Eugene, and was easily the BEST food my sister and I experienced along our trip to Oregon this past Fall 2020!! I'm craving it right now:)
