Manager discourages technicians from answering the most basic questions. Something on your bike you bought from them falls off they won't tell you or show you how to put it back on, especially if you didn't buy the item from them. These people can't even give you a warm welcome when you walk in the door that's basic customer service. Prices are sky high and you can't say hey? Why are they in Crown Heights if they are classiest? I want to buy a new road bike and a sales guy attempted to talk to me about it and was shut down.. like the manager looked at him and he looked back and stopped talking to me. This place is 1 block from my apt. I went to Bicycy Habitat on Vanderbilt and they rolled out the red carpet. Happy people! Answered all my questions over a few days. Let me test ride one and I bought EXACTLY the road bike I wanted from them.

This was my first experience with a bike shop, so it's hard for me to compare. All I can say, though, is that they fixed my flat tire immediately. The bike mechanic was very helpful and gave me good advice regarding the bike tire (not just the tube). He avoided using the most expensive materials based on the use I make of my bicycle. He also put some lube on the chain, which I appreciated. Staff were very kind and helpful. Price seemed reasonable to me. Definitely worth trying.
Great service, I had to go to this shop when I got a flat on my way to work. Not only did they fix my tire fast they had a seat post lock I had gone to a few shops looking for. Good guys with a nice selection of accessories.
Mechanic is prickly and refuses to explain what he is doing. Had to stop by here out of convenience last week, but will not be heading here again, period. Not worth what they charge.
I've been here a few times and have always been on the fence about the service. I came in last night for a broken spoke. They told me it would be ready at 11am the next day. I came in at 7pm and they hadn't even started on it. Wish they were reliable. UPDATE: went here to pick up my bike on 9/8/15 after another broken spoke. I dropped my bike off on a Friday and they told me it would be ready by Saturday and that they'd call me. Today's Tuesday and I called them to see if my bike was ready because they never called. After trying several times—they say they open at 11, nobody picked up the phone til 3—I finally got someone in the phone to say my bike was ready. I dropped in and the spoke seemed to be fixed but they didn't even bother to put air in the tire after having to deflate it for the repair. C'mon guys, please, just a baseline level of customer service. I seriously never want to have to go here again.
Super helpful/knowledgeable staff. I was hit by a car on my bike and they brought my bike back from the dead. Didn't try and sell me on what I didn't need. Let me know my options and what they recommend. Saved me some money!
Got a bike for dad a couple of months ago...happiest birthday ever. Recommended Excelsior to cousin, who had them give new life to her husband's bike. She was so impressed, she bought two bikes for her two boys. One of these days, I'm going back for a bike for myself! Thank you!!
