This is a great online (and before in-person) Spanish school. When we moved to the Northern VA area, one of our priorities was to find a good Spanish immersion school for our children. We found all that we wanted in ChiCeLaCu (Children’s Center for Language and Culture). Our daughters have been attending Saturday classes for the last six and four years respectively. And they really enjoy the program. They love their teachers, the atmosphere, and the other students in the program. Not only are they learning the language, including grammar and writing skills, but also they learn about Hispanic culture. In the last two years, the school has added social studies and math in Spanish as ways to expand student’s vocabulary. Our daughters enjoy that part very much. The teachers follow a comprehensive school-year curriculum, hold parent-teacher conferences, are accessible and provide feedback as needed. The principal and owner, Maureen, cares a great deal about the school, she always listens to suggestions, goes to great lengths to teach, to celebrate and to keep the love for Spanish alive. The school was also quick and effective in moving its classes online during this pandemic. Today our daughters are doing an even more personalized online Spanish curriculum. They really like it, as the teachers keep them focused and engaged. We are grateful to have found this school.

I highly recommend this school. I have been sending my kids for the last 3 years and all I can say is that the care and love the teacher gives to our kids it's just simply the best!!!!. All the staff are very professional and very caring. Miss Ivette teaches the kids in a very enjoyable way. My oldest kid keep saying that Miss Ivette is the happiest teacher in the whole world. What I like is that my kids learn while having a lot of fun! My 2 daughters love the teacher, love the school and now they are having a great time at the summer camp. I'm a latin mom, so for me it was very important that my kids grew up practicing speaking Spanish, so having my kids in Spanish imersion school has been the best decision.

We have been happy with the transition from in-person to online classes as a result of school closure. Senora Guadalupe is engaging and positive. We appreciate the opportunity to continue the program in this manner. My daughter is learning and singing Spanish songs at home.

I highly recommend ChiCeLaCu for anyone who is seriously interested in developing Spanish language skills and appreciation in their children. The owner, Ms. Maureen, is dedicated to leveraging effective curriculum for every age, and selecting great teachers. We had the unusual situation of a 6th grade beginner, and Ms. Maureen worked with him to catch him up quickly so he could join the Intermediate class. My 5-yo twins had a great time with Ms. Ivette, and now in the summer with Ms. Guadalupe, who are both very positive, enthusiastic, and exceedingly patient with the young learners. ChiCeLaCu ported their classes online very quickly, and have been effective in that medium just like they were in person. In the summer they offered art, coding, and math classes in Spanish to provide even more opportunities to learn and practice the language while also working on a different skill. If you a re serious about your kids learning Spanish, this is a fantastic place!

My daughter Amelia has been attending Chicelacu for the last three years. Our experience has been wonderful and we highly recommend the school. Our daughter has not only developed academically but also socially & emotionally. Ms. Ivette always makes learning enjoyable and engages her students in a thoughtful & creative way, particularly now with online classes. We are thrilled to be part of the Chicelacu family and look forward to having our youngest son attend in the future.
