Nice hiking trails to the fire tower was able to climb to the top
like
The fire tower is accessible to the public and you can just about climb all the way up. The small room at the top is locked, however, you can get to the top of the stairs and the view is pretty good. Overall I think its worth the trip, although, I'd question it's structural integrity.
The top was closed but you could still see over the trees from the top of the stairs
Hiked from Ferdinand State Forest park area. It's a nice, clear trail and the fire tower has excellent views for a really great distance. The very top of the tower is closed off to the public, but you can still see plenty from the highest open platform. Some very large birds nest in the top of the tower; one flew off while we were climbing and shook the entire tower. It was kind of cool, but figured I'd mention it in case anyone else might get freaked out by that.
Well maintained, quiet place to enjoy nature.
