After speaking to Captain Dave on the phone about reservations, I was booking this charter even before booking my airline ticket ! He was reassuring, focused, and helpful. The fishing and scenery and boat ride were wonderful. I couldn't have imagined or wished for anything better than how the day went. Many thanks to Captain Dave and Sky. I would also recommend fishing with Fish N' Chips for multiple days, not just one !

Summer 2019 vacation with my son. I planned our trip around our charter fishing. I read the reviews and spoke to Captain Dave. I liked him and next thing I know is the start of our vacation planning is underway. Great crew!! We went out twice and had a blast. He took us to see seals while we were out.I got to reel the first fish of the day. It was then that I found my love for fishing. I still had to find lodging. We needed to secure a place to stay. Dave' has a sister and her name is Cecile with Kingdom Rentals. She has an adorable yellow house that we rented. It's two bedrooms and one bath. There's a washer and dryer, kitchen and family room. The beds are very comfortable. Outside there is a patio and a grill. A table and chairs and breathe taking views. She doesn't take credit cards but, that was not an issue. We sent a deposit and the balance one month before our arrival. She was very easy to work with and I never worried that she didn't take plastic. Have her send you photos of her house. Captain Dave was helpful when I was choosing a float plane adventure. He recommended Andrews Airways. The only thing disappointing was the fog. After a four hour wait we were off. We saw bears!! Talk about up close... Always felt safe..20 feet away at times. The pilot flew us to see the glaciers were we stoped and had snacks and took more amazing photos. We fished a lot of streams and checked out the WWII bunkers on the other side of the island. What an amazing trip we had..a BIG thank you to Captain Dave, Sky, your crew..your sister Cecile...Andrews Airways..Big Rays..everyone we met along the way..the young man that was teaching me how to fly fish. We found everyone that we came into contact with was Genuine. How refreshing!!

Went fishing with captain dave for the second time in september 2020 and we absolutely KILLED the fish. Caught every type of fish there is to catch out there. And got 38 cod. It was an unbelievable day. Great fishing from start to finish.

Definitely a "bucket list" experience! Six of us did a two day fishing charter with Captain Dave, his wife Kathy and on the first day, also his son. First time visit to Kodiak and the weather was great. First day we trolled for salmon. We caught 9 large silver salmon, 4 king, 5 rockfish, 2 lingcod and oddly 1 halibut. Dave knew where the fish where (some private boats would follow him). Also knew when to move to a new place. In addition to fishing, I love photography and he pointed out places (Elephant rock, gun emplacements, puffins etc). Second day was jigging for halibut. Slow to start with but when they started biting, man we hauled them in. We caught 6 over 28 inch halibut, 3 under 28 inch, 1 cod and 3 octopus. At the end of each day Dave drops off the fish at a local processor that filleted, vacuum sealed and froze it for shipping home. Dave kindly went above and beyond and filleted some fish for us to eat while in Kodiak. Overall one of the best experiences in my life. All of us are planning a return trip to fish with Dave again. UPDATE: We went again this year with Captain Dave. Even better fishing. We limited out on halibut every day and king salmon three out of four days plus a bunch of rockfish, lingcod, regular cod, sole and one very large skate.

Just got back from my first ever fishing charter! Steve and Winston were our father-son guide duo on the F/V Fish Hawk and they were amazing! These two truly love what they do and it made the whole experience so comfortable, fun and exciting for our group. We limited on rockfish right off the bat, then halibut and also caught a few king and silver salmon. It's also worth noting that Steve is a retired top-level Navy Seal and now works as a military contractor in Kodiak training new Seals for coldwater missions! He's a fishing guide for fun when he isn't training. He's really humble about it so probably won't mention it to you, but we found out because his wife came on the trip and told us! A total badass, and as someone who is new to being out on boats, I felt extremely safe in the hands of a Seal! Definitely request them as your guides if they're available! I'll be back for round 2 with them next year! Thanks for a great trip, guys!
