We tried few different karate spots before we chose Stricklands. George and his team are professional and great trainers. Both of are kids train and learn here. Without a doubt we would recommend this place.

When I was 19 years old, I began a search on self defense classes in Charlotte, NC. I found George Strickland and his Taekwondo school and instantly knew I had found someone special. Over the next few years I drove across town 45 minutes several times a week to attend his classes. There were closer schools but there was only one Mr. Strickland. Those years were some of the best of my life! Mr. Strickland ran a top-notch program. I would find out later after he had moved away from Charlotte and I was forced to look for another school, non compared. The skills he taught, the methods he used, his wonderful personality..... he is second to none! If you are in his area and are searching for a Taekwondo home, then look no further. Stop in his school and chat with him even for a few minutes, observe him teaching others, I promise you will not be disappointed. During my years, he had 5 points of instruction that went along with the martial arts training. I am now 47 years old and I still use them and recite them in my everyday life and make sure my children also know the value of these principles. They are Courtesy, Integrity, Perseverance, Self Control and Indomitable Spirit. We said them prior to every class and Mr. Strickland made sure we knew their meanings and carried them with us every time we left his classes. He cares about his students and their families. If he were still in Charlotte, my two sons would definately without a shadow of a doubt, be his students! I love you, George! Thank you for an awesome experience and for helping me get my 1st Degree Black Belt!

This school is very impressive with everything they have to offer. The instructors teach the students the form and sparring techniques, as any other dojo would, but they also include defensive techniques, how to roll properly, how to use weapons, and much more. With that being said, they show the kids how to be confident and respectful. The staff are genuinely dedicated for every student to learn the skill. The owner is highly educated and passionate when it comes to martial arts training, his instructors, and students. This is a great place for beginners and advanced students.

My six boys, ages 7-17, have been attending Strickland’s Martial arts for a little over a year. They love learning something new every class. I really respect all of the instructors ability to both challenge their students and make each class fun. The instructors take the time to really get to know each child and not only work on any weaknesses, but perfect the strengths. Unlimited classes and the many available class times make it much easier to get everyone to class and burn some extra energy. When we had an unrelated injury, Mr. Strickland excelled at modifying the workout to keep the boy learning while still allowing the hand to heal. The boys are making great progress in the program. They are learning not only to defend themselves and protect others, but the personal discipline and perseverance that they will need for a successful future. We look forward to many years of training with Strickland’s Martial Arts!
