The birth place of Montana. Very nice walk and wonderful historical society set up with museums that really let you feel like you are back in time.
a lot of history around this old town, the last stop of the steamboats from St. Louis back in the day. This Fort was never under attack by native tribes but served as an important place of the trade with native peoples and mountain men. The place was beautifully recreated with original items of the time period being displayed. You pay a 15 dollar fee and you can check out the fort as well as two other museums in Ft Benton that are top notch as well!
My family, including all four kids (ages 6-17) thoroughly enjoyed the fort and all its facinating history. The docent was helpful and taught us things we wouldn't have otherwise learned. I highly recommend visiting!
HAD A GREAT TIME LOTS TO SEE. VERY NICE PEOPLE.
