I have been a member in good standing now for seven years. I have made many friends within the union as a member. There are many advantages to being a union member such as better pay and benefits but also allows it's members a more respected level of authority with management rather than management having ultimate authority over hourly employees thanks to contractual obligations and elected representation. Not everyone agrees with the union but I have experienced both sides, union and non-union and find myself preferring the powers gained as a union member. Think of it like this, even our nation will no longer stand once devided. There is always greater power in numbers than when standing alone. I do not regret becoming and being a union member in good standing.
