We came to this spot for dinner. This restaurant was recommended to us by a friend. Well, we were not disappointed. The staff were extremely nice and we felt very good. The food was just great. We enjoyed every moment and we will definitely return to this restaurant. Highly recommended.

Five stars. The fellow behind the counter tried to sell me on his 18 hour brisket but I was a man on a mission for ribs. The ribs were as good as can be. The bones each one pulled away clean. The meat was tender and flavorful everything I would expect. The baked beans were nothing special. it’s as if they came out of a can. A real hangup I had though was trying to leave the place with my hands for the entranceway door has a knob that must be turned and pulled inward, sounds like no big deal but can be tricky like I said when your hands are full it’s all a person can do not to drop anything. Overall it’s a great place and next time I’m in the area I’m looking forward to hitting it up again.

We like a lot to go out. Yesterday we went to this fine place which we didn’t know before. We passed a beautiful experience there with superb food and a professional crew and a distinguished cook. We added this venue in our list and we shall definitely visit again very soon. Highly recommended.

If you didn't like your first experience at Mackies, read on to understand why you should have a second experience at Mackies. If you had a good first experience at Mackies, read on to enjoy and appreciate a similar experience of being cared about as a customer. I have ordered from Mackies twice. I have been to well over a hundred different BBQ establishments in my time growing up in the South/Southwest. The first time I ordered their 1/2 Ribs/1/2 Brisket everything was perfect, tender ribs that fell off the bone and brisket that had a glean to it showing it was still moist but tender. But I am not giving Mackies 5 stars for my first order. With my second order the ribs, while still good, were not as good as the first time. My brisket, while good, was not as good as the first time. I believe as a consumer I have a right to give honest feedback to the restaurants for which I have paid for their product. Most of the times as you can imagine the person on the phone is 'appreciative' but provides a reason as to why things were not as good and rarely offers any real hope that another order would give a different experience. Not so with Mackies! I contacted the store to let them know that the quality of the second order was not on the same level as the first. And WOW! They really cared! They were concerned, took notes, and were willing to do whatever it took to make my experience as good as the first. In the restaurant industry, this attitude is a rarity! This attitude is why I am giving 5 stars because with that type of attitude they will get it right a lot more often than they get it wrong. Rest assured, I will definitely be giving Mackies a third try and likely a fourth. If for any reason you had a singular non-good experience, I STRONGLY encourage you to give them another try because I will be surprised if they don't deliver on your next visit ;) Respectfully, JD

Great BBQ place! We were in Frederick for the day and wanted BBQ for dinner. The owner waited on us and was super friendly and helped answer some questions. The food was absolutely delicious! We started with the pork nachos and each had combo meals with ribs. I definitely recommend the lemonade as well. Parking seems to be street only so it took a trip around the block to park out front.
