Having to place a loved one in Memory Care is the toughest decisions one has to make. Being the only family member, that is, no one else to assist in caring for my wife, no kids, makes it even that much more difficult after 30 years of marriage, combined with recent events, has made it even more of a challenge. My wife has been at Poets Walk for about 1 1/2 years now. I visited daily, up until 2 months ago of course, and was able to observe first hand the caring attitude, cleanliness, well trained staff in working with those with dementia. I feel good about my choice of placing her there, and highly recommend it. The food is great. Activities, everything to keep my loved one occupied especially during this time when I’m unable to spend 5/6 hours a day with her like I used to, makes me feel much better about it. It doesn’t get easier, nothing will, but you can count on the staff at Poets Walk to help set your mind at ease.

I cannot say enough good things about Poet’s Walk. Everyone was so very thoughtful, helpful and kind. They made the whole process of bringing my husband into Poet’s Walk as easy as possible. They showed genuine concern and helped in so many big and little ways. Sadly my husband could not surmount complications from Parkinson’s and had to be put into hospice...which meant there was no change in environment. He was in his same room with all his things around him, and I got to spend every day with him until he passed. Not only was his care exceptional, they were also concerned about me and asked if they could bring me lunch, drinks, desserts and snacks. Their support of both my husband and myself was heartfelt and loving at all times. I could not have asked for a better last memory for either of us.

The past several months has been one of the hardest experiences of my life as I had to help make the decision to put a loved one into a memory care facility. Maria Seaton was very patient, understanding, kind, welcoming, and made us feel comfortable throughout the entire process. She answered all our questions and made us feel confident we made the right choice by placing her at Poet’s Walk. She made us feel like we were cared about. It’s been an emotional roller coaster but we are pleased with the community and have had nothing but positive experiences from everyone we have met so far. I want to also acknowledge Nancy Coleman. She went above and beyond to make sure we had no questions left unanswered and performed miracles. We couldn’t have done it without both of these women. They make you feel as though you’re a part of a family. They check in as we visit our loved one and make us feel welcome and knowing everyone there has experience with memory care and family members also with the same things makes us feel better. Tabitha, one of the caregivers wonderful to my family member. I just love these people! Thanks for all you do. We appreciate the care you give and the dedication.

My father is a new resident at Poet’s Walk and transitioning a loved one into a memory care community is never easy, especially when doing so from across the country. From my very first phone conversation with Nancy and other staff members, I immediately felt at ease and felt comfort in knowing that we were making the right decision and that my father would be welcomed with love and care. Since my father arrived, he has been participating in activities he hasn’t done in decades and he has been making new friends, which is a blessing. Thank you Poet’s Walk for helping my family with this transition.
