Camp Sew Social was awesome! I wasn't sure what to expect on a fashion sewing retreat ... first it was a fun, creative deep dive into expert sewing techniques with Shawnelle. Shawnelle has decades of professional LA fashion and film experience, and I learned tips and tricks that have taken my sewing to another level. Mornings before sewing there were yoga/melt classes, then after sewing, we enjoyed fun & relaxing boating/paddleboarding/fashion painting/special-themed gourmet dinners. The stunning location alone is well worth the cost...

My daughter loved the summer camp! I have never seen her learn so much in a 1 week camp! She learned so much last year that she came home and made pillows for our house and even made her deer costume for Halloween! She is so excited to move up to the Intermediate Camp this summer! Thank you for encouraging her creativity and helping foster her love of fashion and design! I would recommend this program to anyone!

My daughter LOVED this camp last year! Thank you for helping her creativity grow. I only allowed her to pick one camp this year and she immediately said Future Fashion Designers so we will be back! I definitely encourage any young girl excited to learn about sewing & fashion to join this program.

Camp Sew Social - In a Word - WOW!! This sewing retreat was top-notch in every way. The venue - an awesome modern log cabin -style home with 180-degree panoramic views of Lake Norman and killer sunrises. Rooms were spacious and nicely appointed. So much to do - so little time. Actually, just the right amount of time. Nearly 4 full days of sewing and social activities. Clearly this was not Shawnelle and Mike’s (affectionately referred to as Tim Fun) first rodeo. Think Ina Garten and Emeril Lagasse. What a fun pair. Their attention to detail in the menus and activities was spot on, from Asian Taco night, Jamaican Chicken night to Killer Shrimp night, no detail was missed. Designing our skirts was the focus of the weekend and so much more. Fashion painting night, cruising Lake Norman’s shores, Smoretinis, Margaritas, Moscow Mules…an endless array of options. This entire fashion sewing retreat was so memmorable and the camaraderie was amazing. Can’t wait to see what they have in store next time. I give this retreat 2 big thumbs up – and 5 Stars.

I have been taking class at FFD for over a year now starting with the mini fashion designer classes and then the beginner fashion sewing class. My goal is to become a fashion designer and Shawnelle has been a great mentor and advisor . Helping me to gain new skills, learning to be creative and to get a jump start on my studies for design school that I will be starting in the fall.

Taylor has been taking sewing classes at FFD for over 3 years now and just loves it. I can’t believe all the things she has made, she even made her sister some PJ pants for Christmas! She is learning more and more about clothing construction and sewing techniques with every project she makes. I am so glad we found Shawnelle and her school. She also loves modeling in the annual fashion show!

My daughter has learned all about sewing and has made so many things in class. She started with summer camps at the age of 9 and has gone on to make dresses, tops and even a raincoat. Shawnelle takes the students from the very beginning and guides them to learn new steps until it all makes sense! She not only is an awesome instructor, but also so much fun! My daughter loves her!
