Good for getting to major cities from the Athens area. It's 45 minutes outside of Athens, so you need a ride to the station. Stations are mostly unmanned until very close to departure time, so be prepared with a (smart) phone to make any last minute purchases or adjustments. Would be great if a shuttle or a transit line connected Athens to Gainesville.

I grew up in Hall County and years before MS-13 was a national news story we would hear horror stories about gang initiations that took place here in this very neighborhood. Great train station to pick up a mother in law you really dont want to see again I guess but seriously I wouldn't hang out around here at night for long. Be in communication with your passenger and get in and get out!

I think it is pretty bad that there is no public bathroom.
A little sketchy. I was waiting for a delayed train for hours, no employees around. Apparently a bad neighborhood, a couple homeless people wandered in, sifted through trashcans, and hit me up for cash. Only a couple plugs are available in awkward places to charge devices, and there were two broken or unsupplied snack/drink machines. Again, no employee availability and no sense of safety or comfort when waiting for a train.
