Good for kids
This is a very small wetland preserve close to the 110 in Gardena. The hours are very limited, so check the website for the days and hours they are open to the public. During Covid distancing, reservations are required, but free. There are lots of good examples of native vegetation, but due to the small size, you can never quite escape the road noise. It was a nice change from our regular nature walks, but we've had better luck spotting wildlife elsewhere. We'll plan to return when restrictions are over. Parking is easy at the nearby park.

We happily renewed our annual membership for the second year in a row! If you have children, it's good knowing that when the fog retreats and Ocean Beach gets the rays, you can come by for a nice day at the zoo. The giraffes are the highlight, you can pay 5 to feed them at 11am. The cafe menu is kind of blah, but consistent with what you'd expect at theme parks... Oh and EV charging avail in the lot!
Wonderful place to enjoy our natural preserves.
Awesome nature reserve in a pocket of Gardena.
