Everything. I love the atmosphere and equipment. I love that you offer kids club and my children love the childcare providers. The flexibility of going whenever 24/7 since the club is always open. I love my trainer Cody Rector and his infinite knowledge of fitness and go getter attitude. And mostly I love the change I’ve seen in my self since joining the gym almost 2 years ago.

I went to Genesis since July 2019. I signed a 18 month contract in which there is no mention of a mask policy. They have cowered to the Jackson County Health Department and won’t let people enter without a mask as well as when you are on a treadmill, squatting, lifting etc. I was singled out by a member-Clement (this has happened multiple times) who was yelling at me in front of everyone present while I was having trouble breathing for not having my mask properly on. When I opted to cancel my membership, as I do not care to be lectured publicly while working out, I was told that I would be charged for another month and that I needed to give a 30 day notice even though they are the ones changing the rules of their contract. These people cannot be trusted and when I called corporate they said they would still charge me for another month even though I won’t be using their services! Great way of treating a loyal customer. I will be bringing my money elsewhere.

The manager at the 291 location made my transition from the location back in kansas smooth and easy. He went above and beyond to help me get my questions and issues resolved in a timely manner.

The place is DIRTY and poorly managed. The floors aren't cleaned in the bathrooms (pics). For Four months there has been the same urine stain under the handicap bathroom's toilet. The equipment doesn't work well especially the stair climbers. Soap and paper towels dispensers are often empty. This is not sanitary considering how many people use the equipment without being able to wash their hands. There is no hot water in hand sinks because of low flow faucets. The kids club has several employees that do not really watch your kids. They are supposed to let you know when your baby's diaper is dirty so you can change it, but they seldom do. They sit in chairs and don't interact with the kids. The AC doesn't work correctly in the Summer, but they like to crank up the heat in the Winter, which makes no sense if saving money or member comfort are motivational. Members constantly complain about the temperature, cleanliness, and equipment functionality. I've said something several times to no avail. Too bad Lifetime isn't in Lee's Summit yet. I imagine when it comes, Genesis will either fix its issues or go under, since listening to members is not a priority. (The pictures posted are from the bathrooms floors underneath the toilets.)
