I visited the park on a weekday morning in March and had the place almost to myself. Took the Mendoza Ranch trail loop and loved it. A mix of open ranch land (with cows grazing in spots) and oak woodlands. You get full views of Santa Clara Valley and the Santa Cruz Mountains across the Valley. Looking south, you can even see the Santa Lucia Mountains (Mt. Carmel, for example). Wildflowers were starting to come out in early March. There will be plenty more soon, no doubt. Great way to spend a few hours.

This park is a family favorite. While you can't get totally away from people anywhere within reasonable driving distance from the Bay Area, this place usually has few guests. It's easy to socially distance as the picnic areas are spaced far apart and there's lots of room to spread out. It's very pretty by the lake and the hiking trails are great!

Great campground! Friendly staff (!), clean, spacious and gorgeous grounds. Restrooms are well maintained and there's plenty of room for kids to play. Each campsite comes with a flat pad, natural shading, fire pit, big camping table, and a large \bear box\ to store your food away from animals. We can't wait to come back!

Beautiful lake and hiking trails. Afternoons tend to be quite hot but good place for hiking in the morning and evening.

Great place for overnight camping, hiking, biking, fishing, playing with water in the lake, picnics, BBQ and family fun activities.
