Great place to camp. It is secluded and a peaceful place. My family canned here last weekend for the first time. The rain dampered our trip a bit but still was a great experience. Cant wait to come back again.

The Black Bear Campground has 12 sites and the fee is 14 per day. My wife and I stayed here on 7/21/2018 (Saturday) and all sites were occupied by 2:00 PM. Amenities include toilets (very clean and new), metal food storage, and a trash dumpster. There are \Ranger Lead Interpretive Hikes\ to Byron Glacier offered on specific days. Access to the Trail of Blue Ice is here, but no salmon viewing in this location. When comparing to other campgrounds the Black Bear Campground is the traditional Alaskan campground with fire pits, benches, dirt roads, dirt camp sites, and no hookups for RV's. The host of the Black Bear Campground is located at the Williwaw Campground. Williwaw Campground is completely paved and many of the camp sites are long and narrow for RV's. If you're driving an RV then I recommend visiting Williwaw Campground first. If Williwaw Campground is full then ask the campground host if your RV will fit in the Black Bear Campground. If your RV will not fit then you may want to visit Portage Valley Cabins & RV Park.
15 per camp site and their bathroom is the cleanest public bathroom I've ever been.
Peimitive, beautiful camground.
Quiet and simple camp ground. 14 per night with food storage, rest room and dumpster. Self service.
