We did 4 days of self guided pheasant hunting under Jeff. We stayed at the Backyard Lodge motel. Like others have stated, this motel is nothing fancy but works for hunting with a bird cleaning area, ice and obviously accommodates dogs. Jeff's setup with local restaurants works well and is convenient after hunting. The hunting was very good and Jeff did a good job of communicating where to go or met us in the mornings and then leading us to one of the farms we could hunt. He did some early morning scouting to see where they were cackling prior to choosing a location for us to go. Communication prior to the trip was limited but once we were there Jeff was always available to help out. We brought our own dogs, but guides or additional dogs were offered if needed. We shot a ton of roosters and had a blast. My only question is if Kansas dept of wildlife does any stocking of roosters as we put up 20 roosters for every hen? Thanks for a great trip.

We did a 5 day combo pheasant and archery deer hunt last week. Jeff booked us at a local hotel as opposed to the lodge to help us with sleep and scent. Our meals were charged to accounts at local dining spots. We hunted a great stretch of woods and saw dozens of bucks. We also hunted a few great fields for pheasant. We filled deer tags and shot birds. We ate great food and had good comfortable sleep. Just an outstanding trip to Kansas. The only problem was that it had to end. Jesse and Jeff go above and beyond for us and we look forward to coming back.

I booked a hunt with Jeff for my 16 yr old son and me to hunt pheasant. We made the 10-1/2 hr drive from central Texas and had a really good experience. Jeff kept us informed the whole time. I wasn’t looking for everything to be served up on a silver platter. This is what hunters do. They make a trip with their buds. You stay somewhere you can grab some food and to sleep, and, then, you hunt. Jesse, our guide was easy to work with and enjoyable. Our first day hunt was with a couple of guys from Louisiana and we had a good time. The motel where we stayed was clean but certainly not fancy. But, it is the perfect place for out of town hunters. A place where you can park your rig and bring your dog. It was full with other hunters who were chasing ducks. They were good to talk to and made the trip even more enjoyable - people from all over the country with a passion to get outside and hunt and fish. There were birds and we got plenty of them. We also jumped a few coveys of quail. It was a great time, and my son and I made great memories- which, to me, was the best thing about the trip.

I have been hunting with Rader Lodge since 2012, for whitetail. I have bowhunted in 11 states, and This is some of the best whitetail hunting anywhere. Jeff Rader will do everything he can, to put you in the right spot.

The cabins are very accommodating. Slept great and the ac works great. Our guide Jesse went above and beyond on service. We caught enough white bass and walleyes to have many great meals. Jesse even cooked some of the fish and brought it to our cabin. We are planning our next trip already on the way home!
