Well worth the visit. A lot to see and learn !
Ancient history here in the US is fascinating since there is so little. We try to find and see as much as we can.
The preserve is a beautiful place to explore Southern Arizona's plants and wildlife, while also discovering some of its indigenous history. The trail is short and easy, and the petroglyphs are marked so that you can search them out around the tumbled boulders. The staff members I spoke to were friendly and incredibly knowledgeable about the area and the peoples who lived here long ago.
Unique valley experience - binoculars helpful The petroglyph park includes a wonderful little museum loaded with fascinating info about this ancient rest stop. It seems travelers from 1 to 5 thousand years ago left their marks on this ancient volcanic rock pile. It's like an ancient tagger's oasis. While you can't get up close & climb the rocks, there is a walkable stone path of a 1/4 mile within viewing distance. The museum itself included up close photos and actual artifacts, plus lots of details about past travelers through the area.
