They never answer the phones and their rude when you try to get an animal. They did surgery on my cat n the stitches kept coming out. I would never take any of my animals there again. Also when I was trying to get my dog out they gave an outrageous amount of money to take him out. Someone found him n put him in there. I don't think its right to not give someones dog back.

The Glendale Humane Society is a wonderful organization. Several months after losing our dog because of her old age, we started looking into getting another dog. GHS was one of the shelters nearby so we decided to check them out. Their website does mention that they are appointment only so we scheduled a time to meet a couple of their available dogs. After meeting the dogs and not making a very good connection, Alyce suggested we meet Sunny. IT WAS LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT. Within a few minutes of meeting Sunny we knew he was the one for us. He wasn't originally on our list of dogs to meet so we are SO grateful that Alyce set us up. After we completed the application and had a class with Alyce, we were approved and able to take Sunny home. He's a great dog, well behaved and well trained. We were so impressed with GHS, the volunteers and the ease of the process. Sunny is a much beloved member of our family and we can't thank GHS enough!!
I volunteer here and can understand how some people get frustrated or think this organization is \mean\ or unhelpful. You need to call ahead and make an appointment because unexpected drop ins can upset the dogs. Some dogs are not ready to be adopted and can get real reactive if people they dont know walk by. But I guarantee you that if you put in the effort to go through the hoops it will be worth it. A lot of effort is put into training the dogs and weeding out bad behavior. They are strict with their adoption policies in order to make sure the dogs go home with the right people, and that they will never end up returned or re-surrendered. When I say ight people\ I'm not talking in the sense of people who will neglect or mistreat the dogs, but making sure the dog is a good fit for the family, because unfortunately sometimes \love\ is not enough. A lot of these dogs have personality quirks or issues that can drive even the most loving owner up the wall. If you put up with the hoops they make you jump through, I guarantee you will go home with a dog that is the most perfect, well behaved dog that matches you and your family perfectly. They also train the dogs really well, almost all of them already know sit, stay, heel. It's also good to trust them regarding what is best for their dogs, I have never seen a humane society that puts so much care and effort into their dogs. They know each and every dog really well and what environment will be best for them and allow them to thrive. All in all, they might require more work from you then the average humane society but it is totally worth it!
I have had nothing but great service from this humane society. The staff are very caring with the pets and go out of their way to help find the pets a permanent home.
Glendale Humain Society is an unbelievable place. The ppl that work there are so loving ,caring and nurturing . Nobody is more human than them. They put their heart and soul and lots of unselfish gestures to make animal life better .It is all about animals not about the workers .I have never seen such caring , Thank you ladies - you are the brightest stars on the firmament of animal world .
