When the official viewing area closes at 8pm, many cars will gather in the cul-de-sac here just outside the parks gate in the summer months to see the sunset and the airport operations at dusk. Often times up to 20 cars here for a half hour before and after sunset into civil twilight. Great afterglow viewing especially on nights with 30-70% cloud coverage at medium to upper levels. Good spot if you don't have an hour to drive to the lakeshore.
